Minutes of Alert Neighbor Training, August 10, 2010

The meeting started at 7:00 PM at Southern Hills Baptist Church. We were very pleased that approximately 87 neighbors attended. Millard Burgess spoke for 15 minutes about making your home more difficult for burglars to get in and stressed that being an alert neighbor was the best way to avert burglaries. Knowing your neighbors, what cars they drive and who normally visits them (and being sure they know the same about you) is of great importance. Families should practice teaching each other how to identify cars and suspicious people. If there are any unusual events, call 911.

Our police representatives were Corporal Bob Shockey and Officer J. C. Comstock from the Riverside Division. They stressed the importance of being alert and answered many questions from the attendees. Officer Shockey is an experienced trainer and an excellent police officer to consider for any future training that we might need.
