The City of Tulsa has arranged a special meeting for Heller Park Neighbors so that we may give input to Tulsa's Comprehensive Plan. This meeting will allow our neighborhood to voice our ideas, opinions and priorities for the future development of the city.
This meeting will be on Thursday, May 10 at 7:00pm in Southern Hills Baptist Church's chapel. Southern Hills Baptist church is at 56th and Lewis. Park in the west parking lot of the church and enter through the southwest doors where you see the "Chapel" sign.
What is the Comprehensive Plan?
The Comprehensive Plan will map out the future development of the city of Tulsa. It will include components such as land use, transportation and economic development. The zoning and development of our own neighborhood will also be part of the plan.
Tulsa's current Comprehensive Plan is about 30 years old and the City is undertaking a massive update of the plan. It is estimated that between $1 million and $2.5 million will be spent on updating the Comprehensive Plan.
The City will be conducting large meetings throughout Tulsa to get input from citizens. Our neighborhood is receiving a special opportunity to have a smaller meeting so that we can give input that is specific to our part of town. This is a great opportunity for us to tell Tulsa's planners what we consider to be important for the future of Tulsa and the Heller Park/Riverwood neighborhood. Here are some questions that the planners will be likely to ask at the meeting...
1. What do you think is most important for Tulsa to achieve over the next 10 to 20 years?
2. What do you think are Tulsa's most valuable or important assets or opportunities?
3. What do you think are the most critical issues, problems or concerns confronting Tulsa?
Please join us on Thursday, May 10 and let our city's planners know what your priorities are for the city and for the Heller Park/Riverwood neighborhood. We hope to see you there!
