However, my opinion took a quick reversal when it was decided that the County would be in charge of this very important undertaking. In the past, I was disgusted with the treatment of the Flea Market on the County Fairgrounds (once regarded as one of the best in the county) by the fairground staff. The Flea Market may not generate the money that, for example, the horse shows do, but there are (or were) hundreds of citizens that attended every weekend. It is my opinion that the fairgrounds is for all of the citizens, not just the cronies of the Fairground and County staff. It has been made very clear to me that the County is not being managed for the Citizens. The “President and CEO” of Expo Square, Rick Bjorklund, was quoted by the newspaper as stating that he wasn’t interested in the opinions of Tulsa County Citizens. He indicated he didn’t know (and obviously didn’t care) how many emails the County was receiving that protested the forced and abrupt eviction of Bell’s Amusement Park. He stated that “this isn’t Star Search” and “we’re not taking a vote”. Whether the removal of Bells was a good “business decision”, or not, may be open to question. Whether the Citizens should have input into such a decision is most definitely not open to question; in my opinion.

I don’t have any direct control over the retention of this arrogant and disrespectful County employee, but I can and will campaign and vote against the current County Commissioners and all County taxes and projects until the Fairgrounds management becomes responsive to the Citizens needs and desires.

Larry and Chryl Poffenberger
1604 E. 55th Place
Tulsa, Ok 74105
745-9786

My wife, baby and I are thinking of purchasing a h...

My wife, baby and I are thinking of purchasing a home in the 53rd and Utica. We are concerned about the widening of I-44 and the affects it may have on the Utica / 53rd Street area. Does anyone know if the 51st street 'bypass' will be affected and if so, how? I'm very glad to hear about installing speed bumps on Utica near Heller Park. I'm also interested in seeing speeding curtailed on 56th St between Utica and Lewis. Motorists using our neighbor as a cut-through between I-44 and/or Peoria to Lewis often speed on 56th St. This is a designated bike trail for the City and many children and their parents ride their bikes on 56th. Is anyone else interested in slowing speeding down on 56th St? What is the protocol for requesting speed bumps be installed on 56th St?

Cool, thanks for the info

Cool, thanks for the info
